After researching my hypothesis I concluded my findings of yes background noise does affect the concentration levels of students

Does background noise in the classroom reduces the learning of students because it affects their concentration?

My Findings

  • In my findings I found majority of the people were aged 10-13 and 14-16. And the most coming from year 7.

  • 57.5% found that background noise affects their concentration.

  • My survey showed 45.8% of people listened to music while studying, 38.9% did sometimes and 15.3% did not.

  • My survey also showed a very even result in background noise reducing learning. 49.3% saying yes and 50.7% saying no.

  • I also got many written responses that I have graphed to make the data easier to read.  I found more people are distracted by quieter noise rather than louder.

I found that 57.5% of the 73 people who answered my survey found that background noise does affect their concentration. To back up my findings of losing concentration, I asked if they listened to music while studying and 45.8% of people said they listened to music, which is an indicator of distraction.
